H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni travelled to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on 8th Feb 2025 for the EAC-SADC Joint Heads of State and Government Summit. He was warmly received by Rtd Col Amb. Fred Mwesigye Uganda’s High Commissioner Dar es salaam, Rt.Gen.Amb.Robert Rusoke HC Kigali. Alhajji Farid M. Kaliisa Amb.of Uganda to DRC,,  Amb. Anne Katusiime, Consule General Arusha, Dep. HOM Dar Amb Elizabeth Allimadi, Defence Attache Brig Gen Ronald Bigirwa and Counsellor Philip Kanyoonzi The summit brings together EAC and SADC leaders to address instability in eastern DRC and enhance regional security efforts.East African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC), aims to find a unified solution to the instability in the region and enhance regional security efforts 

 

The meeting is a follow-up to the extraordinary summits held by both SADC and EAC last

month, which emphasized the need for urgent action to address the deteriorating security situation in eastern DRC ². President Museveni's participation in the summit demonstrates Uganda's commitment to regional peace and security.

 

Other key leaders attending the summit includePresident Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa, President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia, and President William Ruto of Kenya, who chairs the EAC .The summit's outcome is expected to have significant implications for regional stability and security.
