INAUGURATION OF THE REGIONAL ENERGY EFFICIENCY CONFERENCE

On December 4, 2024, Amb Anne Katusiime attended the inauguration of the Regional Energy Efficiency Conference (REEC) at PAPU Tower in Arusha, themed "Advancing Energy Efficiency for Sustainable Development." The conference brought together delegates from EAC, SADC, development partners, MPs, military representatives, industry leaders, civil society, and energy professionals.
 
Hon. Dr. Doto M. Biteko, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, launched the National Energy Efficiency Strategy 2024-2034 to transform Tanzania's energy sector. Key speakers included:

Mr. Belete emphasized the World Bank’s $9.6 billion investment in Eastern and Southern Africa, with $1.7 billion for Tanzania.
 
The conference aimed to raise awareness about energy efficiency, promote collaboration among EAC and SADC countries, and share best practices to tackle regional challenges. Uganda's participation underscores our commitment to regional energy goals.
