UGANDA CONSULATE'S PARTICIPATION IN EAC 25TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS AND SUMMIT EVENTS

The Uganda Consulate Arusha coordinated and participated in the following events: EAC Jubilee Road Festival on the 28th of November 2024, The High-level side event commemorating the EACS 25th Anniversary on 29th of November 2024 and finally the 24th ordinary summit of the EAC Heads of State on 30th November 2024 at the Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC) United Republic of Tanzania. These events were preceded by the EAC Jubilee Road Festival on the 28th of November 2024 where Partner States exhibited traditional art crafts cultural materials, national Flags traditional attire, food drinks and music. Uganda’s Stall had UG waragi (three flavours), Rolex, pancaked, Nsenene and tourism promotional materials. The next program was the High-level side event commemorating the EACS 25th Anniversary on 29th Nov 2024. H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in his speech reflected on the Regional Blocks' achievements and emphasised the rich history of trade with dates dating back to over 1000 years. EAC @25, a reflective journey and future aspirations, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was recognised as one of the founders since 1999. Uganda reaffirmed her commitment to the EAC vision of a prosperous secure and integrated region. The 24th ordinary summit of the EAC Heads of State on 30th November 2024 was held under the theme: Promoting trade sustainable development and peace and security for improved livelihoods focused on advancing regional economic growth and cohesion. The Summit appointed H.E. William Samoei Ruto President of the Republic of Kenya as chair taking over from South Sudan's H.E. Salva Kiir Maqardit, and H.E. Hassan Sheik Mohamed of the Federal Republic of Somalia as Rapporteur.
