The sectoral Committee on Customs meeting commenced on the 14th of October 2024 with the senior official’s session. Today,17th October the Commissioner's session commenced, Ugandan delegation was well constituted led by Commissioner Customs Asadu Kigozi Kisitu, as the leader of delegation, Uganda Consulate represented by Consul General Amb. Anne Katusiime and Cs. Phillip Kanyoonzi, alongside representatives from URA, the President’s Office, UBOS, MEACA and the Attorney General's office. The Secretary General of the East African Community Ms. Veronica Nduva, presided over the opening session alongside Deputy Secretary General - Customs, Trade and Monetary Affairs, Customs representatives from Member States and EAC Secretariat staff. " Discussions focused on the Single Customs Territory, trade facilitation, tariffs, compliance, and regional economic integration. The meeting will conclude tomorrow 18th of October 2024 with adopting the Senior official's report.
