TRAINING WORKSHOP ON ICT MANAGEMENT AT THE UGANDA CONSULATE IN ARUSHA

The Uganda Consulate in Arusha, under the mandate to enhance Uganda's image and visibility, recently hosted a comprehensive training workshop facilitated by the ICT team from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). This two-day training, conducted from June 30th to July 2nd, 2024, was designed to empower consulate staff with essential ICT skills.

Objectives of the Training:

  1. Website Management and Updating: Equip staff with the knowledge to manage and regularly update the consulate’s website, ensuring it remains a reliable source of information.
  2. Official Email Communication: Emphasize the importance of using official consulate emails for all communications and ensure all staff are proficient in managing their official email accounts.
  3. Consulate Website Utilization: Fully utilize the consulate website developed by the MOFA ICT Team, which had not been fully utilized previously.
  4. Applications and Social Media: Update staff on the use of various applications and social media platforms to enhance the consulate’s outreach and engagement.
  5. Information Security: Equip staff with knowledge on best practices for information security to protect sensitive data and communications.

Training Sessions:

  1. Website Management: Focused on equipping staff with the skills needed to effectively manage and update the consulate website.
  2. Email Setup and Functionality: Covered the setup, management, and efficient use of official consulate email accounts.
  3. Security Measures: Provided essential information on maintaining information security, followed by an exit meeting to review and consolidate the training outcomes.

The training was a resounding success, thanks to the invaluable assistance of Mr. Charles Nabimara and Mr. Dennis Mulima from the MOFA ICT Division. Their expertise and support were instrumental in achieving the training objectives and enhancing the ICT capabilities of the consulate staff.

This initiative marks a significant step towards improving the consulate’s digital presence and communication efficiency, ultimately contributing to the promotion of Uganda's image and visibility.
