THE 45TH MEETING OF THE SECTORAL COUNCIL ON TRADE, INDUSTRY, FINANCE & INVESTMENT (11TH–15TH NOVEMBER 2024)
The 45th Meeting of the Sectoral Council on Trade, Industry, Finance & Investment (SCTIFI) concluded ON THE 15th of November 2024 in Arusha, Tanzania, with Uganda’s delegation demonstrating strong commitment to regional integration and cooperation.
The delegation was led by Hon. Wilson Mbadi, the State Minister of Trade, and supported by Deputy Secretary to the Treasury, Mr. Patrick Ocailap. Other key representatives included:
- Amb. Anne Katusiime and Counsellor Phillip Kanyoonzi from the Uganda Consulate in Arusha,
- Amb. Elizabeth Allimadi, Deputy Head of Mission at the Uganda High Commission in Dar es Salaam,
- Mr. Kisitu Kigozi Asadu, Commissioner of Customs at the Uganda Revenue Authority,
- Ms. Teddy Okello, Administrative Attaché,
- Officials from the Ministry of East African Community Affairs (MEACA), Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MOFPED), the Attorney General’s Office, Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA), Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS), Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control, and the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.
The meeting focused on a range of critical agenda items, including updates on the implementation of previous SCTIFI decisions, EAC tariff offers under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), and reports on customs, trade, standards, investment, and competition matters. Uganda’s delegation actively participated in these discussions, fostering collaboration with Partner States to advance shared objectives for regional growth.
Uganda’s robust representation underscored its dedication to driving the East African Community’s integration agenda, ensuring alignment with national interests while promoting mutual benefits across the region.
